About Diving
This wonderful sport is categorized in different ways, but we can simply divide it into two groups instrumental (scuba) diving and free diving.
Free diving
In simple terms, freediving is a way of diving without any air source. The diver performs the entire dive with a single breath on the surface. Freediving has a very old history. In the Far East, people used to hold their breath and dive to collect pearls. Bajau fishermen living in Borneo have been known as 'people walking on water for many years.
Şahika Ercümen, Derya Can, and Devrim Cenk Ulusoy in Turkey are our most popular athletes who also brought many important medals in the field of free diving.
Kaş region hosted the 2nd International World Underwater Championship in 2016 and the CMAS-TSSF 1st Outdoor Europe & 'Kaş Other' Open World Freediving Championship in 2017, and with the applications of more than 150 athletes from 20 countries, Kaş' made it known all over the world.
Scuba (Underwater Breathing Device)
What is Scuba Diving?
The most important feature that distinguishes scuba diving from free diving is that it allows you to stay underwater longer.
